Role Overview:
As a Contentious Trusts and Probate Lawyer, you will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload, including claims under the Inheritance Act, will validity challenges, property disputes, and more. Working closely with Head of Dispute Resolution, you’ll have the chance to play a pivotal role in growing this area of the firm.
Contentious Trusts and Probate Lawyer Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied contentious trusts and probate caseload, encompassing Inheritance Act claims, mutual wills disputes, and property claims.
- Handle disputes involving beneficiaries, executors, and trustees regarding will and trust administration.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their development within this specialty.
- Contribute to the firm’s strategic growth in contentious probate matters by identifying opportunities for department expansion.
- Work closely with the Head of Dispute Resolution on cases and initiatives that build the firm’s presence in contentious probate law.
Contentious Trusts and Probate Lawyer Requirements:
- At least 3+ years of post-qualification experience in contentious trusts and probate.
- Proven expertise with claims under the Inheritance Act, will validity challenges, TOLATA 1996 claims, and related areas.
- Knowledge of civil procedure in the High Court, especially within the Chancery Division.
- A proactive approach and vision for growing the firm’s contentious probate offering.
- Strong organisational and client care skills, with the ability to manage complex cases.
- An interest in developing and mentoring junior team members.
