About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy conveyancing team in Bridgwater, providing both clerical and administrative support to fee earners. You'll be involved in all aspects of the conveyancing process, from opening files through to completion, gaining valuable experience in residential property transactions. The role offers excellent exposure to property sales, purchases, leases, and mortgages, with opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and build strong relationships with clients and third parties. This is an ideal role for someone looking to establish or further their career in conveyancing within a supportive team environment.
Conveyancing Assistant Responsibilities
- Providing secretarial support including typing, word processing, and managing telephone calls and diary appointments
- Opening and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures
- Drafting, processing, and proofreading legal documents
- Communicating with clients, solicitors, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other relevant parties
- Assisting with or conducting legal procedures including ordering property searches with local authorities
- Dealing with Land Registry matters and documentation
- Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with professional standards
- Maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and SRA regulations
- Maintaining high standards of client care and building long-lasting client relationships
- Supporting fee earners with administrative tasks to ensure efficient case progression
Conveyancing Assistant Requirements
Essential:
- Basic understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction to completion
- A team player with a positive and service-oriented attitude
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with all parties involved
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Desirable:
- Thorough understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction to completion
- Experience with case management systems and other relevant software
- Proficient in using case management systems and Microsoft Office
- Previous experience in a conveyancing or legal support role
