About the Client
Our client is a long-established law firm with a team of over 200 colleagues across offices in Devon, providing a bespoke conveyancing service to clients across England and Wales. Known for combining a traditional, personal approach with speed and efficiency, a significant proportion of their work is generated through client recommendations — a testament to the quality of service they deliver.
About the Role
You will provide professional and proactive support to a skilled team of property lawyers, helping them to remain organised and work efficiently and effectively. This is primarily an office-based role, with some flexible working available following a satisfactory induction and training period.
Conveyancing Assistant Responsibilities
- Opening files and supporting client onboarding processes
- Dealing with client enquiries by telephone and email in a professional manner
- Document production and proofreading
- Assisting with exchanges and completions
- Preparing and filing Stamp Duty Land Tax returns
- Registrations of title and closing and archiving client files
- Using the firm's IT systems and packages effectively
- Providing general support to lawyers across the team
Conveyancing Assistant Requirements
- Excellent organisational skills and high personal standards
- Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Proactive, can-do attitude with strong problem-solving ability
- Happy to adapt to a varied workload and the needs of a busy team
Desirable
- Previous experience in a property or conveyancing role, though not essential
