About the Role
Due to ongoing high workload, this office-based position offers the opportunity to work within a busy and thriving Residential Conveyancing Department. You'll be supporting conveyancing fee earners who may be based across different offices through digital dictation systems, while also assisting in the progression of residential property transactions from instruction through to completion. The role offers genuine variety and the chance to develop your conveyancing knowledge across all aspects of the transaction process. You'll be working in a professional, friendly environment with clear support and development opportunities.
Conveyancing Assistant/Paralegal Responsibilities
- Assisting with conveyancing transactions from instruction through to post-completion
- Preparing draft Contract Papers and related documentation
- Dealing with sale enquiries and responding to queries from buyers' solicitors
- Ordering property searches from local authorities and other search providers
- Assisting with exchanges and completions including drafting completion statements
- Preparing SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax) forms and conducting Land Registry searches
- Managing post-completion matters including Land Registry applications
- Handling telephone calls confidently and providing clear, accurate, and up-to-date information to clients and third parties
- Providing reception cover at lunchtime and during staff absence when required
- Maintaining accurate file records and documentation
- Working collaboratively with fee earners and other team members
Conveyancing Assistant/Paralegal Requirements
- (Essential) Previous experience as a Conveyancing Assistant or Paralegal in residential property
- Confidence in managing a busy workload and ability to use own initiative
- Ability to work well under pressure and cope with changing priorities
- Good administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Effective communication skills, both written and spoken
- Confident telephone manner with ability to provide clear information to clients
- Positive and proactive approach to work, anticipating and meeting departmental needs
- Receptive to receiving and acting on instructions from supervisors
- Competent in using Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office products
- Experience with case management software would be advantageous
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to support colleagues
