About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside another Employment Law Solicitor, running a broad caseload of employment matters from HR advisory and drafting to tribunal cases and corporate transactions. Based primarily in Poole or Dorchester with hybrid working (one day per week from home after probation), the role offers genuine partnership progression.
Employment Lawyer Responsibilities
- Running a broad caseload of employment law matters
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and support staff (desirable)
- Drafting contracts of employment, policies, and employee handbooks
- Handling employment disputes, unfair dismissal cases, and discrimination claims
- Providing HR advisory work on disciplinaries, grievances, and redundancies
- Advising on employment law aspects of corporate transactions and TUPE transfers
- Conducting HR/employee due diligence work on acquisitions
- Running employment law training sessions for clients
- Managing employment tribunal proceedings
- Meeting fee earning, time recording, and billing targets
Employment Lawyer Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years' PQE in employment law
- Strong background and genuine interest in employment law
- Proven skills in contract drafting and resolving disputes
- Working knowledge of the Employment Tribunal system
- Ability to meet fee earning and billing targets
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- High level of initiative and professional integrity
- Own transport (car)
Desirable:
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff
- Working knowledge of case management systems
