About the Role
You will join a small and highly integrated Legal team, working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel across a broad range of commercial and operational matters. The role focuses primarily on supplier, provider and customer relationships, commercial contracts and insurance product support, while also contributing to wider business projects and strategic initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercial solicitor looking to make their first move in-house, or for an in-house lawyer seeking broader responsibility and business exposure.
In-House Legal Counsel Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
- Supporting supplier and provider relationships and managing the legal aspects of third-party risk
- Advising business teams on legal and commercial issues across the organisation
- Advising on legal matters arising from relationships with individual consumers, SME clients and corporate policyholders
- Supporting the development and review of policy documentation, customer communications and contractual terms
- Contributing to strategic business initiatives, projects and new product developments
- Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel across a broad range of in-house matters
In-House Legal Counsel Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with approximately 3–5 years' PQE, though candidates with different levels of experience who demonstrate the right skills will also be considered
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
- Ability to take ownership of matters from instruction through to completion with limited supervision
- Strong legal and commercial judgement with the ability to provide practical, risk-focused advice
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborative approach with the ability to build effective relationships across a business
- Curious, commercially minded and comfortable working across a broad range of legal issues
