About the Client
Our client is a long-established law firm with a team of over 200 colleagues across offices in Devon, providing legal services to individuals, families and businesses locally and nationally. About the Role
You will provide essential secretarial support to a specialist Legal Aid team representing children, parents and grandparents in care proceedings, instructed by their Guardian. The role is fully office-based in Newton Abbot, enabling close collaboration within the team. Full-time applications are preferred, though four-day week arrangements will also be considered on a pro-rata basis.
Legal Secretary Responsibilities
- Audiotyping and preparing legal correspondence and court documents
- Preparing court bundles and other case documentation
- Providing all-round secretarial and administrative support to the team
- Managing competing priorities efficiently and accurately
- Supporting fee earners to maintain the highest standards of client care throughout
Legal Secretary Requirements
- Strong audiotyping skills and experience using dictation software, preferably BigHand
- Excellent IT skills including experience using bundle software, ideally SOS
- Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Can-do attitude with the ability to respond to busy periods cheerfully and efficiently
- A collaborative team player who understands the importance of client care
Desirable
- Previous experience in a family law or care proceedings environment
- Experience supporting a Children Panel Solicitor
