About The Role
This permanent position offers hybrid working arrangements, allowing you to balance professional excellence with the quality of life that Cornwall offers. With a minimum of 5 years' PQE required, you'll be managing a comprehensive caseload of private client matters including wills, trusts, estate administration, and court of protection work. The role offers the opportunity to work with clients on important life planning matters while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the firm's continued success.
Private Client Lawyer Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive legal advice to clients on private client matters
- Drafting tailored documents and letters to meet clients' specific needs and objectives
- Negotiating and securing agreed outcomes with clients and other professionals
- Overseeing the successful implementation of agreements and coordinating all parties involved
- Supervising and mentoring trainee solicitors and legal assistants
- Staying current with legal developments, changes in legislation, and industry best practices through ongoing professional training and continuing professional development (CPD).
- Collaborating with colleagues across the firm to deliver exceptional client service
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
Private Client Lawyer Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in Private Client Law with solid understanding of wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to explain complex legal matters clearly to clients.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork capabilities with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Adaptability and flexibility in approach to client matters and team responsibilities.
- Drive and enthusiasm for the private client sector with commitment to achieving excellent client outcomes.
- Proficiency in IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.

You are an experienced private client lawyer with at least 5 years' PQE who is passionate about helping clients with important life planning matters. You possess strong technical knowledge across wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, ideally with additional expertise in agricultural and business property reliefs.
