About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established Private Client department, managing your own Wills & Probate caseload while providing valuable support to experienced Private Client Partners. Based primarily in the Wells office, you'll be handling a varied mix of wills, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, and estate planning matters, working with supervision and support from the Partners as required. This is an ideal role for an ambitious private client solicitor who wants to develop their practice within a well-regarded firm that values quality service and invests in its people.
Private Client Lawyer Responsibilities
- Managing your own Wills & Probate caseload with supervision and support from Private Client Partners as required
- Providing support to Private Client Partners with their Will and Probate caseloads
- Drafting wills, codicils, and testamentary trusts for clients with varying levels of complexity
- Handling estate administration and probate matters from initial instruction through to distribution
- Preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney for property and financial affairs and health and welfare
- Advising clients on inheritance tax planning and estate planning strategies
- Assisting and supporting the Partners as required on more complex matters
- Capitalising on the existing client base to develop further instructions
- Developing legal practice skills and knowledge through continuous learning
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Private Client Lawyer Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Exec with legal experience in Wills & Probate
- Strong technical knowledge of private client law and practice
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation and professional rules
- Experience using case management systems
- Experience using Willsuite software
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Outlook and Word
- Understanding of the Office Manual and compliance requirements
- Ability to manage own caseload effectively with appropriate supervision
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Commitment to meeting billing and time recording targets
- Proactive approach to business development and generating new work
- Ability to capitalise on opportunities within the existing client base
